The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby is the other adaptation chart I decided to fill out. The book is about new beginnings, the American dream, 1920's, and popular rich bastards. The movie is about popular rich bastards. Period. The book isn't a love story, but Baz Luhrmann, the director, turned it into one. If you didn't read the book then the movie was great. But if you did read the book then you would agree with me and say that he misinterpreted it. The characters were far into left field, and far from the book. Leo Dicaprio is always amazing and is the only amazing one in this movie. The movie is full of parties, sex, drinking, and rap music. A little different the the 1920's. But I do love Luhrmann's directing views, he is visually amazing. The way the movie drags you in, with fancy editing, and big bright colors, is the only great thing I can say about this movie. Overall it is probably the best 'Gatsby' movie I've seen. But that isn't saying much.

IRON MAN 3
IRON MAN IS THE BEST. I wish that is all I could write about it. But i have to talk about it a little more. Whatever...So I believe this movie was a close adaptation of the book. Hollywood did a fantastic job keeping all the main parts of the story. They even added 1 or 2 things and made it even better. I loved 'The Mandarin' and the big fight scenes. I understand why they didn't kill Dr. Killian like they did in the book, because overall he made a great villain and had a good back story too. I believe this adaptation can be categorized as 'transposition,' Hollywood has its best writers on the job creating the book as best as they could into a movie. And they exceed. Finally, the overall theme of this was rebirth. I believe the writers of the movie did a great job rewriting the book into the movie by adding more, keeping the main points, and happy medium to please comic book lovers and movie lovers. Great job Hollywood! Now stop while your ahead. There are rumors of a 4th Iron man, already :/ damn it Hollywood...

I believe Blade Runner was an intermediate adaptation because I had a lot of the original story. But they changed the names, the location, and the ending. So in this case I believe this could be categorized as an analogy adaptation. I think the filmmakers changed what they had to change because they only had 'X' amount of time to shoot the film in. Plus it seems the filmmakers tried to make it easier for audiences to understand. But it made me more confused after reading the book and then watching the movie. I don't understand why Hollywood wanted to take this story and change almost everything. In my opinion I think they should have done a loose adaptation and just have changed everything and make a completely better story and movie. In conclusion, I didn't like either the book nor the movie.
